Gospel Artist Jimmy Gait Startles Kenyans With His New Coronavirus Song

Kenyan artist love to seize moments. Just when we thought we had heard enough from a Kamba artist singing about Coronavirus, then boom! Jimmy Gait takes over with his version that has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans. On Friday, Kenya reported its first case of coronavirus, and on Saturday, the Wakati wa Kubarikiwa hitmaker released a music video of his latest song about the virus, like he had seen it finally setting foot in the country.

In his song dubbed ‘Corona,’ Jimmy Gait receives a call from his friend Akinyi who is married overseas informing him that her husband has succumbed to the virus. Akinyi while on phone coughs like she has been infected as well. He goes on to sing how Coronavirus has become a global menace, but with God, everything will be okay if we have faith in Him.

The song has garnered over 18000 views since it premiered on his Youtube Channel. Despite the song having a positive message on hope, prayer and faith, it quickly took Kenyans down memory lane to the days when the artist used to release songs on anything trending across the country with. One ‘Yesu ndio Sponsor‘ received massive backlash that saw him shed tears on national television and the humiliation took him to the verge of ending his music career because the trolls were venomous.
